French Open Final Preview: Alcaraz and Zverev Seek Maiden Grand Slam Title

Experience on Their Side

While neither Rafael Nadal nor Novak Djokovic have a direct bearing on this weekend's French Open title match between Carlos Alcaraz and Alexander Zverev, both finalists can draw upon a wealth of big-match experience when they take to the court at Roland Garros on Sunday.

Head-to-Head History

Zverev holds a slight 5-4 advantage in the pair's head-to-head series, but it is Alcaraz who has won their last three meetings, including a straight-sets victory in the semifinals of the Madrid Open earlier this year.

Alcaraz's Ascendancy

Alcaraz, who is still just 19 years old, has been one of the most impressive players on the ATP Tour in recent months. He became the first man to beat Nadal and Djokovic at the same clay-court event when he eliminated them in consecutive matches en route to the Madrid Open title.

Zverev's Statement Win

Zverev, meanwhile, has also been in impressive form in 2022, winning the Australian Open and reaching the semifinals of the French Open for the second time in his career. His victory over Sinner in the semifinals was a statement win, and he will be confident of adding another Grand Slam title to his collection on Sunday.
